To all: I have found the moon to be totally fascinating. My 5" meade does a fine job of letting me investigate many of it's features. I just ran across this link and find it very valuable: http://www.lunarrepublic.com/atlas/index.shtml Hope you enjoy it. Jim --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! For the suburban observer, sometimes the moon is all you get! What other single object has it's own regular column in S&T? What other single object has such a physical relationship with earth? We may owe our very existence to the moon thanks to the tides. It also may be what allows us to explore the near-earth environment, by virtue of having swept the area clear of smaller "debris" that might damage spacecraft. I'm glad to see you post this, Jim. The moon is fascinating, never presenting exactly the same aspect twice. And you don't need to worry about dark-adaptation! C. --- Jim Gibson <xajax99@yahoo.com> wrote:

For years I'd been a "lunar snob", hating the light of the moon. Not sure what happened, but one day I woke up and realized how dumb I'd been, that there was nothing I could do about it except accept it and, wonder of wonders, study it! It's a fascinating subject, and you can spend many many hours on it. Don't fight it like I did all those years... Thanks for the post Jim, it is a great site. Makes me wish I had a laptop.
