I have not seen them yet but SpaceWeather.Com is reporting a big group of sunspots. Here's an image from their page: http://spaceweather.com/images2010/08feb10/midi512_blank.gif?PHPSESSID=ssrr7... Maybe if the Sun really is going to start up again I may finally get some sort of H-alpha scope. patrick p.s. Very nice night tonight.
Patrick, I look at the SOHO web site about everyday and the sunspots are the best I have seen in 2 years. I looked at them today with my binoculars and Bader filter. They looked great. The sun has been the most active the past three weeks than I have seen since 2008. I think we finally can say we are coming out the very long minimum. I was just over at Bruce Grim's place where he had his C-90 set up. In addition to the spots discussed here yesterday we saw another group has rotated into view. I tried to get some pictures through a C-5 but clouds screwed up all the images. Grumble... Maybe tomorrow, patrick On 08 Feb 2010, at 20:56, David Rankin wrote:
