IIRC, the instructions for the zero-G toilet were a modification of the instructions for how to flush a toilet in a submarine, from the novel "On The Beach"... I never saw "Contact"; it came out during the diaper-changing segment of my life IIRC, missed a lot in those days. Worth buying? (I don't rent) I love Carl Sagan as a popularizer of astronomy, even met him and had a short conversation many years ago, (pre-Cosmos) but I've never been especially captivated by his writing as prose (though the ideas behind it are fantastic). So I'd value a group judgement on "Contact". Was that the one with Jodie Foster? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The all-new My Yahoo! - Get yours free! http://my.yahoo.com
Both the book "Contact" and the film were first-rate. The film was true to the book, as far as I could recall. Chuck, If you don't rent, then yes, the film is worth buying. Good flick. I liked it (even if real SETI folk don't listen for ET using headphones). Considering Dr. Sagan was an atheist the religious overtones surprised me. Patrick

Chuck, I don't know what your objections to renting are, but if it's cost (as it is with me), you could check it out of the library. I enjoyed it, FWIW.
