Where is the best source (read: lowest price) for solar filter film such as Baader film?
Kim: I have a piece of Baadar (photographic) film you could have for the price of postage. If I remember correctly it is 250mm X 250mm. This is NOT visual film. It was my understanding that it could be used visually if you used a Neutral Density filter with it but it is labeled Photographic only!. Interested in visual or photographic? Steve

Thanks, Steve. I'm actually interested in both visual and photographic film. If the offer still stands, please email me at kim_hyatt@nps.gov. In our last OAS meeting, some of the members mentioned that they wanted me to check out a company called Seymour Solar. I tried to access their website and it comes up blank today. This might be temporary but I wondered if anyone had experience with their filters and material. I will also be pricing the Baader material and will let you know what I find later today. I am going to buy one from,
http://www.seymoursolar.com/, mostly because they are the only ones that make a filter that will fit the scope I plan on using for the eclipse. Where is the best source (read: lowest price) for solar filter film such
as Baader film?

I know it's not that big of an aperture, but you could always mask down to a smaller size. should be plenty good for use as a solar scope around 40-50mm. Just an idea. good luck. On Sun, Mar 4, 2012 at 9:02 AM, <erikhansen@thebluezone.net> wrote:

The full aperture filter is about 50 bucks, no polembo.
