I'd read about them in Popular Science and just wish I could be there. Of course I still built projects (the Tesla coil was my best), but mainly for myself. Not only does your kid get to actually go to one, but she excels at it. Give her a pat on the back.

Yes, in the midst of our arguments over global warming, let's not forget her win! This is a truly nice event. And tell her that science is a great career. My son's research and teaching as a physics graduate student are pretty demanging, but exciting. And federal grants mean that not only does Sky not pay for his grad school education, but the government pays him for his hard work. Best wishes, Joe
