Green Laser Sale is on again
Got one of these several weeks ago. Seems fine. Looks great through the inversion. http://www.luckyduck.com/basement/

$35 each. Not bad. Michael, the ad says they are also selling replacement batteries cheap. Could you check the battery in the unit you bought and post the particulars (brand, size, voltage, part number)? Thanks, Patrick

It uses a pair of AAA's, so you won't have a problem there. The unit comes with a little foam case. The case has cutouts for batteries, so you can store batteries outside of the unit for extended periods. Not like we live anyplace where you couldn't see the sky for weeks at a time... Michael P.S. Here's the text of the email I got from Ducky Luck: Since you've used a discount code on our site before, we know you recognize a good deal when you see one. That's why we're writing to tell you about our super-secret bargain basement, where you'll find unbeatable prices on really cool products. No discount codes are required; by proceeding directly to The Basement you'll see your special price. There is no link to The Basement from our homepage; and we're only telling people who've used our discount codes about its existence. News of The Basement will spread only via word of mouth. Today's Basement item is the Luckyduck APC for only $34.97. Buy as many as you like, but act fast because the item will be pulled soon and without notice. This is a deal that's simply too good to pass up, so visit the Basement now before it's too late!

Then there's something odd here. The picture of the battery on the web site does not look like a AAA and they are claiming the battery retails for $10 to $15. I have not bought AAAs for a while but do they really cost that much? Patrick
I see what you mean. When you click the gimme-gimme link, you then see the oddball lithium battery. But if you look at the text description of the laser itself, you'll see that it says AAAs. Same goes for the description of the APC laser on the Dinky Link main page. Based on all that (plus the fact that mine uses AAA), I think you're safe in that regard.

Naah. You can pick up an 8-pack for a couple or three bucks.

I just ordered one so I guess I'll know about the batteries for sure in a few days when it arrives. pw
Hi, I just ordered one, and e-mailed them to ask what battery it uses. The reply confirmed that the correct battery is two AAAs. Norm Patrick Wiggins wrote:

I see they are also currently offering the discount in their S&T ad. Now I'd really like to perform the laser test. Michael, does the Lucky Duck laser have a provision for a remote switch? --- Michael Carnes <MichaelCarnes@earthlink.net> wrote:

I think you may misunderstand the purpose of a remote switch in this instance. It is simply a momentary switch on the end of a short wire, mine is only about 18" long. It's intent is not specifically to allow operation at a distance, rather it allows mounting the laser on a telescope and turing it on and off without inducing any vibration or accidentally bumping the telescope by using the laser's primary switch. It's for lasers used in "finder" mode, not "pointer" mode. Handy accessory. --- Michael Carnes <MichaelCarnes@earthlink.net> wrote:
You might be able to push it with a servo. I meant to say "solenoid".
