Let's shoot for March 9th. How about 11:00 AM this time, so folks can still get in several hours at the sun party afterwards, if desired? Feedback solicited, we can change time & date if the group wishes.
Sounds good, but it's hard for me to plan that far in advance. I am looking for an old equatorial mounting for a reasonable price. An example of what I am looking for would be a mounting from a Criterion RV6 - for those who remember what that is. If anyone has one gathering dust I would be interested in acquisition if you are amenable. Thanks, Brent
The RV6 mount fetches top dollar these days. Even damaged examples are sought after by collectors for parts. Good luck. On Feb 8, 2013 2:02 PM, "Brent Watson" <brentjwatson@yahoo.com> wrote:

There's a guy selling one in Florida if you're willing to pay for shipping (and you'll get more than just the mount for a great price): "This telescope comes with two mounts: 1. Original equitorial mount that I've never used (I don't know if it works). It appears intact. 2. Homemade Altazimuth mount. I refurbished the scope when I bought it in late 90's with walnut shells glued to interior of tube coated with ultraflat black paint according to instruction I got from this group back then. The 6-inch mirror is a little dirty, but the aluminum coating on the back looks good. I have three 1-1/4 inch eyepieces included as follows: 1. K 40 mm E.W.F., 2. Kellner celestron 25 mm, 3. Criterion A.R. 7 mm. I've got about 10 pictures that I could email you if you are interested. I'm interested in selling it to someone who will come to pick it up for $225. I live in Beverly Hills, Florida about 80 miles north of Tampa, Florida." rtellad@yahoo.com ________________________________ From: Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, February 8, 2013 2:05 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Old mounting The RV6 mount fetches top dollar these days. I figure better plenty of advance notice than short notice. On Feb 8, 2013 1:24 PM, "Joe Bauman" <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> wrote:
