Once had a Lotus Elan and a Sunbeam Tiger (like Maxwell Smart). Still own the 1970 Porsche 914-6, very rare and built for racing. It leaks oil. Always has. -A
Oh, Ann- we need to talk! I used to drool over Tigers in high school. And I loved those 914's! Cute little things. Thought about a Boxster? On 9/2/07, Ann House <ann@annhouse.org> wrote:

Chuck, I started out owning a 1964 Renault Dauphine....then I got into British cars. First was a used 1964 red triumph spitfire - sweet car, whole hood open up and I could sit on a tire and do most of the work on it from there. Then a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, BRG, 260 cc, V-8 engine in a 2400 pound car! I took the side chrome strip off (only thing that distinguished it from the Alpine) and its surprised a lot of people when I'd hit 0-60 in 4.8 seconds! Held its own against XKE's and Vettes. Raced it a few time in SCCA Maraboro, Maryland in B products - 0-60 was under 5 seconds! Then 2 MGB-GT's. The 2 MGB-GT had TWO 6 volt batteries mount on each side of the rear jumpseat giving a virtual perfectly flat cornering. All these cars, except the Tiger required a lot of tinkering but they were a blast to drive and the handling was awesome. I miss all these oldies! Chuck, Boyd McNeil has a Tiger. I'll bet we could coerce him into letting us have a peek. -A On 9/2/07, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

WOW, count me in if we do a visit to Boyd's Tiger - would love to see the condition. I remember when Chrysler bought Rootes of England who made the Sunbeam. Chrysler was not able to fit their smallest V-8 engine into the small Sunbeam engine compartment, and since Chrysler didn't want to sell a Chrysler Sunbeam with a Ford engine in it, the car was dropped. How sad! It was a classic. I'd love to see Boyd's. Anyone know what color it was? Mine was British Racing Green, with a real walnut steering wheel and shift knob. I have a picture somewhere. Tears on my shoulder . . . Jim Ann House <ann@annhouse.org> wrote: Chuck, Boyd McNeil has a Tiger. I'll bet we could coerce him into letting us have a peek. -A On 9/2/07, Chuck Hards wrote:

Boyd gets the digest version of Utah-Astronomy so it might be a while before he replies. All this car talk has me thinking of the 380 SL I had and sold to help someone. I miss that car. Still have the winch hanging from the garage ceiling that I used to remove and replace the hard top. Hmmm, anyone here know how to track down a car using the VIN? I tried the police and DMV to no avail. pw
I drove my uncle's (from Albuquerque) 914-6 when I'd visit my 3 girl cousins. It was on my bi-monthly visits from Laguna Beach, they were in UNM and I had fun w/ their lady friends, drove a VW van then. I lust after the Infinity, but I'm too practical these days for a small car to drive on a small-ish island though it would make a nice drive to the summit. YeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aloha Rob Haleakala is the steepest road in the USA goes to 10K ft in 22 miles, killer on brakes on the way down, plenty decending hairpin turns that aren't banked cut thru lava rock
Ann, is the Porsche registration current and the car drivable? Can you bring it to the concours/sun party if we pull it off? On 9/2/07, Ann House <ann@annhouse.org> wrote:

It has its little emissions problems and didn't pass. My daughter worked on it and I think all I have to do is prove we did our best to get it to comply and they will let it pass. No problem with inspection, I think we got the window squirter fixed. The short answer is, yes, I can get it up to par and take it on a road trip. Date for a car show? I can contact Boyd. -A On 9/3/07, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:
