Contact issues? How about product reliability, product delivery, customer support, etc., etc., etc. Kim -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Stephen Peterson Sent: Thursday, August 05, 2010 4:10 PM To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Utah-astronomy] RE Meade contact Couldn't find email for customer support but try lenora.cabral@meade.com She is the investor relations person. Funny that they'll talk to investors via email, but not anyone else who has given them money for product. On 8/5/10, Kim <kimharch@cut.net> wrote:

I guess since I had considered and owned so many Meade products I may have followed the last ten years or so of their history a little closer than most. Some of the information I knew came from Bill Cowles and some from watching them go from 9 full page ads in S&T and Astronomy magazines to maybe one page in each. Most months you won't find them mentioned unless it is in someone else's ad. I guess it has been two or three years ago now that Scott Roberts made an abrupt exit from Meade and immediately became the face of Explore Scientific. I followed fairly closely their suit with Celestron over patent rights to some goto property. While Meade did indeed win the suit it cost them dearly in the pocket book. Celestron had to move on from the NexStar system and on to the CPC. Celestron was purchased a number of years ago by Imaginova and I assume they are still the current owners. Did you all know that Meade moved most if not all of their manufacturing to Tijuana, Mexico several years ago? Yes, they still have some offices in Irvine, California but you won't find them assembling scopes there any more. Meade has certainly faced some tough times and is a company that is trying to rebuild. Most of us would offer suggestions to rebuild that they won't think of with the Corporate mindset. Suggestions like quality control, customer service and service as promised but I just don't think they are thinking that way right now. I quite honestly can't believe someone hasn't bought them out at their bargain basement price. Steve
