Re: [Utah-astronomy] Science and Religion
Anyone who has purchased a JMI product has unknowingly, perhaps, advanced- financed- the ID/creationist agenda
I do hope you were joking in this Chuck, because I intend to make fun of you. You have blasted straight through hypocrisy and landed in the middle of absurdity. This is a hobby and people are supposed to have fun at it for crying out loud. The last thing we need is Âpolitically correct telescope hardware. JMI is a successful business in spite of the religious beliefs of the owner, not because of them. In America everyone is welcome to put up their own line of focusers, telescopes, and binoculars and see just how well you can do in those markets, That includes you Chuck, if you think you can make a business succeed by promoting political correctness. ItÂs called freedom; itÂs what America is all about. Just to keep this on the light side, I have a few telescopic fatwa of my own to issue. 1. Any one who drives over telescope truss tubes because heÂs too busy arguing politics should perform the following penance. Make a pilgrimage to London and ask for forgiveness from original Newtonian telescope made by the hand of Isaac himself. 2. Any one who has a cooling fan that blows air across the face of telescope primary mirror should be forced the look through the eyepiece while standing on his head. 3. The LX200 is banned because at the end of the last Star Wars movie Darth Vader had his arms and legs cut off by Obi wan. He now walks around fully prosthetic and sounds like a coffee grinder. So turn away form the dark side Guy. Clear Skies DT Lapsed catholic. PS: I was surprised to find that Microsoft Word knows the correct spelling of Obi wan. ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs
I've got brand new gears for the LX200 but I think I will make you suffer t he factory noise a bit longer. Besides, with winter approaching, I will use th e cover of snow to make the change... ;) Quoting daniel turner <outwest112@yahoo.com>:

And I don't suppose you ever pause before buying the Heinz Ketchup, eh Daniel? ;o) --- daniel turner <outwest112@yahoo.com> wrote:

There's no need to pause. There's Hunt's Tomato Ketchup, and it doesn't have that spoiled aftertaste... ;)

Del Monte, that's a good choice too... You should have been at the meeting last night Chuck, a Physisist, a physyisist, a Psyisicyst... grrrrr, a 'Doctor of Physics' was telling us about dark matter, dark energy and other stuff, and the whole time Canopus was on his laptop researching... That fellow just doesn't stop. ;) Quoting Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com>:

Thank God my tomato plants are so prolific this year, I could hardly bear the tension of shopping! Seriously, I think this discussion has maintained a fairly high tone throughout the last several hundred posts. Kudos to all of you, I have been very impressed, and it has been educational as well. Let's continue to ignore the occasional poster that temporarily forgets to let deeply felt responses sit on the computer overnight before sending. It is easy to have something that is meant well, come off as overly emotional, and those active in these threads have done an excellent job, for the most part, of ignoring the possible traps and sticking to facts or the rationale behind their opinions. Thanks for an enlightening few days. (By the way, I really enjoyed the Harry Potter books as well. Still waiting for someone to loan me the latest one :). Jo At 08:33 AM 8/24/2005 -0700, Chuck wrote:

If you have any left over after the season we should make some of that "fall down, hit head, see stars" tomato wine... ;)
Yep, but you seem to have missed Chuck's point in all your sermonizing, because it had nothing to do with being P.C., it was about freedom, which includes the good old American tradition of boycotting those whose ideologies you disagree with (like choosing Hunts over Heinz). Isn't America great?! --- daniel turner <outwest112@yahoo.com> wrote:

Rich, were you addressing me or Daniel? Cause I didn't think my 1 line repl y about Hunt's Tomato Ketchup was anywhere near the level of sermonizing... Quoting Richard Tenney <retenney@yahoo.com>:
