Re: [Utah-astronomy] Columbia revisited
Joe, Could you post it in the photo gallery? I would love to see it, and I'm sure many others would too. Thanks, Jo Grahn
Hi Friends, I tried to send some tiff files but often they didn't get through. If you wanted a copy of my shuttle photos and they didn't make it, please send me a note and I'll send jpg versions -- I think they'll get across OK. Best wishes, Joe
Joe, In the future just post any and all of your interesting pics to the utah-astronomy gallery so we all can enjoy them! In case you didn't know it, these messsage boards do not allow attachments over 50K in size without moderator approval (Cynthia, or me for UVAA). So it's always better to post pics to the gallery, if for no other reason it keeps our email inboxes less full (mine is always pushing the limit anyway it seems). This is especially true for uncompressed tiff images, which typically run quite large. Jpeg images are compressed (for those of you who might not know), and the compression ratio can be changed rather dramatically to reduce file size without too much compromize in image detail. A program like photoshop or paint shop pro can help adjust the compression ratio to keep the image quality good and drastically reduce the file size. Thanks, Rich. I tried to post them to my gallery but could not log in. I thought I knew my logon and password but it must have changed or maybe this dumb iMac wasn't allowing me to post it beacuse it wasn't set right for the firewall or cookies or something. I'll try again when I have more time. Best wishes, Joe
Hi Friends, with Cyn's help I posted the photo (actually three variants of the same image) in my portfolio. The third, showing an outline I drew around what may be Columbia, is on the second page of my protfolio. So anyone who's interested, they are there. Thanks, and especially thanks to Cyn -- Joe
