Hey all. Thanks for the help. Jo, that's a good idea about Timpanogas, hadn't thought about that as an alternative. Still haven't gotten used to this high mountain snow business. Back in N.E. the big thing was "ice-out" a space of a few days in which all of the ice disappears from lakes and ponds. This generally coincides with "mud season", which is immediately followed by "black fly season". The week after THAT is called summer, and then it's autumn again.
Hey, friends, I wanted you to see a couple of pics of M51 that I took -- posted 'em on the Astronomy Gallery that Cyn so kindliy provides for us. Had to wait until the moon went down Saturtday morning 2:30-ish. I'm still getting the hang of my SBIG, and once I get a guidescope on it I think I'll do better. Best wishes, Joe
In the photos' captions for my M51 views I originally said they were taken May 18 -- wrong, it was June 18. Oh well. -- Joe
