Any landing you can walk away from... (OT)
Not astronomy related but the list has been kind of slow lately and I know there are a bunch of aviators on this list that might appreciate these links: Mountain Home last year: http://www.avweb.com/newspics/DavisTbirdEject.jpg Why gear should not be retracted *before* getting airborne: http://www.seaislandrc.com/video/mig29_garnaev_crash.mpeg Patrick

WOW! I'd seen the view from the ground several times but that was the first time I'd seen it from inside the cockpit ( http://www.f-16.net/PhotoGallery/album44/aby.mpg ). With the weather looking so good I'm planning on doing some flying today to check out the site of the bowling ball drop from the air. Sure hope my landing will be better than the one I just saw in the video. :-) BTW, speaking of weather, checking my observing log the last time we had a full night of clear skies was one night ago tonight. It's been a looooong month. Patrick
Man! I feel bad for the guy. He miscalculates his altitude AGL, and now he's flying a desk at the Pentagon! I liked the video in Russian too. The reporter said a word that sounded an awful lot like catastrophe something like four or five times. Greg --- Patrick Wiggins <paw@trilobyte.net> wrote:
