How were the skies at SPOC last night? It was a little cloudy here in St. George. There were clouds this morning, too. It’s supposed to be clear the rest of this week. We’ll see. Dave

Surprisingly well. Cloudy in the afternoon during the swap meet (surprisingly my Schmidt camera did not sell <g> ) and the dinner. But all the food attracted lots of SLASers (sometimes I think SLAS is synonymous with food). As the sun set the clouds could not seem to make up their mind. Sometimes leaving and sometimes coming back. But eventually it cleared off leaving some really decent skies with great seeing. Lots of public and the entire student body from a local private school kept us hopping. And then right around closing time the clouds started returning so we closed up. All-in-all are very nice night. patrick
Dave, It was partly cloudy during the star-b-que as the clouds were moving about. When the star party started we had a few breaks in the clouds to look at the moon, then about 9:00 PM the northeast part of the sky started to clear off and this clearing grew to cover about 80% of the sky by 10:00. The seeing was quite good with fairly stable air. We had a moderate turn out which was considered good because for most of the day Saturday, it appeared that the star party wouldn't happen.
