Hi Joe, I use a ToUcam with a Mogg adaptor (another local I believe, xcept living in Sydney now) and a TV Powermate x2 giving f30. I capture with a 366Mhz Compaq laptop I got off ebay for $150 which actually was a real bargain, running k3ccdtools which is freeware. On my Dell desktop I use Registax version 1 to process, can't be bothered with version 2, both of which are freeware. I use PhotoShop Elements 2 (Costco, $50 I think) to crop, size, rotate, animate etc. I got "The Hidden Power of PE2" book with cd PE2 addins (approx $70 I think) which gives me just about all the capability I need or know how to use for the fraction of the price of PhotoShop Pro. All up, I've spent about $400 to get into taking these shots (excluding the powermate and scope!) which is not bad. I added all sorts of stuff to the laptop but not to handle imaging. Cheers David
Thanks! I assume the laptop uses Windows, instead of some wretched Apple configuration? I think that's the way to go -- I have been dragging out my PC for use with the webcam, which means I have to connect to a power supply. I will keep my eye peeled for something like that on eBay. Best wishes, and thanks -- Joe Joe Bauman science & military reporter Deseret News bau@desnews.com (801) 237-2169
LOL! "Wretched Apple configuration" vs. windows? I seriously think you wrote that sentence with some dyslexia Joe! MS Windows is the biggest pile of softare crap to ever be foisted upon the unsuspecting public, IMHO. ;o) But, to each his own... I'm personally enjoying Linux these days. No more kotowing to Micro$quash for this boy... -Rich --- Joe Bauman <bau@desnews.com> wrote:

Yes Joe, I run w98 on it which all works fine - terrific laptop, I even bought a spare LCD screen for $50 and three xtra Li ion batteries (they give 2.5hrs each, which gives me a total run time on batteries of 10hrs!) for $10ea, all on ebay. I can only capture at 5fps but that seems OK. PS: David, I forgot to ask, what type of scope do you use for those wonderful pics? -- Joe Joe Bauman science & military reporter Deseret News bau@desnews.com (801) 237-2169
Don, A Meade 7"MCT LX200GPS. I forgot to mention that I have also been using a Baader IR-UV filter on Mars - rare as rocking horse shit to buy these days! Here we say rare as "hen's teeth", but I'm beginning to like your version better! C. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com
