Re: [Utah-astronomy] Liver & Onions
Kelly has had something come up on the 28th so I need to go with August 4th. I wanted to post this days ago. During a regular checkup with my doctor on Wednesday, he talked me into the pneumonia vaccine. On Thursday I was horribly sick with every side-effect possible with the vaccine. Only this morning am I feeling anywhere near better. I haven't been able to get out of bed much for the last 3 days. If you are thinking about the pneumonia vaccine this year, please make sure your doctor lists all the possible side-effects. They only surface in a small percentage of those who get the injection but they are severe if you are the unlucky statistic. The good news is, after the booster a year after the first shot, you should be good for ten years before needing another. Hope to see you all on the 4th, I'll send out reminders when we get closer. C.
That certain explains why you were not at the viewing or funeral for Siegfried. :) Don't know about you, but that pneumonia shot is a series of 3, taken one a year for three years, at least that's the one I got. Me lucky, no side effects. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chuck Hards" <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, July 15, 2018 10:57:27 AM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Liver & Onions Kelly has had something come up on the 28th so I need to go with August 4th. Joan, that item right there just has me really, really angry as well as sad. All I did was get a pneumonia shot at a regular check-up, and I'm the one who gets the 1-in-1,000 severe side effects. I didn't get my chance to say goodbye to Ziggy. Gonna take a while to get over that. The series is only two shots now, the booster is next year. Maybe. Thanks for posting about the pneumonia shot. I talked with my doctor about this a couple of weeks ago. I had some concerns about the side effects and now I think I will skip the shot. With my new healthy diet I should be okay. Hi Debbie, I've always been in favor of vaccinations, this is the first time I've been the Side-Effect Poster Boy. I'll probably go-ahead with the booster even though the possibility of more side-effects is now more personal. I'll schedule a few days off work immediately afterwards however. If nothing happens, at least I'll have a few days off, lol. The older I get, the harder these winter illnesses hit me, and the longer it takes to get over them. I'm still searching for any advantage I can get! And this time, I missed a New Moon weekend with decent weather, for a change. But it does give a person pause and if I had known that I was going to get sick with certainty, I wouldn't have done it. As always, have these discussions with your doctor. Just take the words "extremely small chance" with a grain of salt. On Sun, Jul 15, 2018 at 2:29 PM, astrodeb <astrodeb@beyondbb.com> wrote:
