Pentax 16x60 PCF V. With box, caps, strap and instruction folder. Used many times, but in excellent condition. According to Pentax they are fully multicoated, BAK4 prisms, etc., etc. I can vouch that they are sharp across the field and contrasty. Long, long eye relief for glasses wearers. Also included: a set of Chuck Hards custom-fitted solar filters> $95 o.b.o.

We have another SLAS "private" star party at Wolf Creek this Friday and Saturday August 29 and 30. I would like to invite everyone on this list. Last time in addition to deep sky objects Mars was spectacular. I suspect the higher elevation of 9800 feet had a lot to do with it. Mars at Bryce Canyon the last night of the star party there, August 2, was also very good . Right now the forecast for both Friday and Saturday looks good. The monsoon coming up Tuesday night should leave by Friday morning. If you plan to come please email me at djcolton@piol.com. Let me know if you need directions. Clear Skies Don Colton
Count me in for at least one of those nights. -Rich --- "Don J. Colton" <djcolton@piol.com> wrote:

Hi Don, can you tell me how steady the viewing was with Mars? It has been swimming around pretty badly from SLC. Thanks, Joe Joe Bauman science & military reporter Deseret News bau@desnews.com (801) 237-2169
Joe, seeing from a metropolitan area generally will not steady-down until just before dawn. There is so much paved ground and hot roofs giving off heat that it just takes HOURS for the seeing to steady in summertime. Sometimes it doesn't settle-down for weeks. Altitude and greenery around the site are your best friends. The high-speed, high-altitude winds sometimes associated with mountian sites aren't nearly as degrading to the image as the "slow" seeing artifacts of the city, and even these often die-down before midnight. If I could get-away this week, I would head for the Uintahs. C. --- Joe Bauman <bau@desnews.com> wrote:

Has anyone else on the list with a Yahoo! address had their list messages occassionally delivered to the "Bulk" folder? Certain posters ALWAYS end up in the Bulk folder, others never, but they are all list postings from the same server & address; it's not as if some were individually labeled as "spam". Thanks C. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com
Yes, I have had that happen several times. I always check my spam file first and transfer to my inbox, anyhting that went there ill intended. Chuck, With Yahoo at least you can go into the bulk folder (I always double check what's there before trashing it) and they provide a link that says "this is not spam", followed by "always deliver mail from this sender to inbox" options so you don't have to have repeat problems with certain senders. The problem, Rich, is that sometimes messages from utah-astronomy go to the bulk file, sometimes they don't. I understand how to use the spam labeling tool. This problem is arbitrary; has nothing to do with how I have the spam filters set. Thanks anyway! C. --- Richard Tenney <retenney@yahoo.com> wrote:

Joe It was very steady no detectable blurring. We saw great detail in both Rich's 16 inch and my 18 inch.
