Quick photo of comet C/2015 V2 Johnson
Took a quick photo of comet C/2015 V2 Johnson last night. There’s still the hint of a tail…I think. The bright star to the right is Spica. Dave https://www.flickr.com/photos/78046474@N06/34780446603/

Yes. Actually, at this time, it is very close to Iota Virginis (common name: Syrma) a little above and to the east of Spica. Spica is Alpha Virginis. I use Cartes du Ciel (a great freeware planetarium program) to get the location where I want the mount to slew to, then put the target on the center of the chip of my camera with AstroTortilla controlling Nebulosity. I don’t do one- or two-star alignments any longer. I polar align the mount and then I plate solve target positions (acquired with Cartes du Ciel) with AstroTortilla and Nebulosity and let the programs do the work for me. I rarely touch the hand-controller of my mount while imaging unless something weird happens. You know what I mean. Those gremlins are always there, lurking in the shadows. Check out AstroTortilla. It’s free, too. Nebulosity is not free, but is very reasonably priced for a camera-control program. AstroTortilla will run with quite a variety of camera-control programs, plus work with file images you take on the fly with your camera. I just happen to like Nebulosity as an imaging program. Dave
