Please forgive me if you receive this twice. There will be a three hour (two night) PBS NOVA mini-series based on Brian Greene's excellent book, The Elegant Universe. This is an excellent introduction to string threory. It will be broadcast on KUED Oct 28th & Nov 4th. It will also be broadcast on KBYU - but I don't have the dates. The first part will be two hours and the second night will be a one hour show. Following the final broadcast the entire series will be available on the web. Here are some links: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/ http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/about.html http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/schedule-local.html Clear skies, Dale.
A PS to Dale's note about The Elegant Universe: Brian Greene is the subject of the cover article in the most recent Scientific American. The discussion is a bit esoteric, and I hope the TV series is a easier to understand, but it's definitely worth reading. Best wishes, Joe
I'd like to see this, but will probably have to record and watch later - it's a Tuesday. This may be the guy who was giving the talk up at the U - we saw the banner on the Biology building when we walked to the Oregon game. --- Dale Hooper <Dale.Hooper@sdl.usu.edu> wrote:
