Siegfried notified me this morning that Don Parker passed away. He provided this link to Don's work. http://www.masil-astro-imaging.com/Don%20Parker.html It's amazing what the man did with a 16" reflector. I don't mean to discourage anyone on this board from taking pictures, but Don was a dedicated, skillful photographer. I heard him once at an Astronomical League convention. For every hour he spent at the telescope, he spent 12 at the computer working over his images. He will be sorely missed.
Sad to see him go. He was a digital imaging pioneer. He was a retired MD, wasn't he? A heart surgeon or somesuch? On Mon, Feb 23, 2015 at 12:19 PM, Joan Carman <jcarman6@q.com> wrote:

How did he do that? Absolutely amazing.

Speaking of great imaging, where’s Tyler been? It wouldn’t matter how many hours I spent at the computer after one of my imaging sessions. One has to know what one’s doing. I don’t even have Photoshop. Wouldn’t know how to run it if I did. Steve Gallenson once sent me his procedure for processing images through Nebulosity. He has no idea how much that helped me. That’s one thing I like about this group. There’s enough experience between members to get help with just about anything astronomic.

That's why I'll never be a great astro-imager. Too much time required sitting at a desk!

Don was a dentist. He started his planetary photography with film. He eventually did make the switch to digital. On Mon, Feb 23, 2015 at 12:41 PM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:
