Joe, There is a picture of the Green Flash in the latest Sky and Telescope issue. That picture looked a lot clearer than mine. We had morning and evening fog that day. Maybe I'll try from Santa Barbara next summer. It was clearer there than Ventura/Oxnard. Debbie

Hi Deb, Just saw a picture of a green flash. But I can't remember which magazine! Probably S&T. -- Best wishes, Joe

The green flash is seen more frequently over water, mostly because the horizon is low. But water is not a prerequisite. I have seen them right here in SLC. Brent sees them not infrequently from the Bountiful east bench, over the GSL, right Brent? --- Debbie <astrodeb@earthlink.net> wrote:

Yes, I see them about one out of every four or five times I look. I don't seee them much in winter, but they are very common in spring, summer, and fall. I have shown the phenom to several neighbors, and they see them occasionally too. I have seen it on the sunrise also, but you have to know where the sun is going to peek over the horizon. I have done it as I drive along the freeway in Salt Lake. Brent --- Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com> wrote:

Brent, have you ever seen any other bright objects give a green flash? Venus? A multiple flash by moving upward quickly? A blue flash? I've only ever seen the "standard" green flash at sunset, none of the exotic variations. --- Brent Watson <brentjwatson@yahoo.com> wrote:

I have seen one "green" flash that was more turquise. It was actually a sunrise not a sunset. I have also seen multiple green flashes while driving I-15 northbound near Willard Bay. As the sun set behind one peak I saw the flash, and the same each time the sun re-appeared and then set again along the peaks of the Promontory Rang. Other than that, nothing unusual. I have tried the fast upward motion but have not been successful. Its easier to drive along the road and let the sun and mountains do the work. Brent --- Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com> wrote:
