Hi, I hope I'm not boring anybody with my not-so-fantastic pictures. But Steve Crouch, an Australian who is a member of the SBIG discussion group that I belong to, helped me improve the processing of my view of NGC4565. Here it is: http://www.deseretnews.com/blog/47/10011724/Nightly-news-astronomy-The-Galax... A comment on the Deseret News web site would be appreciated; one on this forum would be nice too. Thanks, Joe
Joe, your efforts are always improving. 4565 is one of my favorites, and your pic does it sufficient justice. Here's what I commented on your blog: I remember that John Dobson, when asked, also named 4565 as his favorite deep sky object. Joe, your perseverance is paying off well; that is certainly a nice pic, worthy of your effort. That night I was in Arches NP enjoying the same region of the sky. The following day while driving home I took SR10 north from I70 and as I passed through Castledale I actually thought of you, knowing that you like to do your imaging from the Wedge. Funny that you were there at the same time. I may head there soon myself and maybe we'll meet. Keep up your work, you're doing very well! To me, visual observations of 4565 always show a more pronounced "needle" than the pics. I wonder if it's possible to achieve the same effect in a photo. Are you up to the challenge?
