Taking off from SL International last night the sunset was beautiful. All I could get were a couple of one-handed cell phone shots taken through the window but they do convey at least a bit of what it looked like. Between the beet red setting Sun, the clouds, falling virga and reflections off the lake, just plain gorgeous. http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/sunset01.jpg patrick

Nicely done Brent, you got the 'God light', which really caught my eye at work last night as well. Too bad the bank of clouds cut off the very bottom part of the sunset it would have lasted much longer, and been even more spectacular otherwise. I have the technology here on my desktop to “Photoshop” The tree of Utah into any of these photos and thought about doing that just to get a rise. Since it violates so many copyright laws I chose not to. I also figured Chrismo didn’t need the aggravation. Joe, simply close your eyes and imagine Brents awesome photo with the silhouette of the Tree of Utah prominently placed in it.Steve

For $150 you can take 15 photos from space: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/575960623/ardusat-your-arduino-experimen... or spend more and reserve time to run experiments: "Once launched, the ArduSat (Arduino – satellite) will be the first open platform allowing the general public to design and run their own space-based applications, games and experiments, and steer the onboard cameras to take pictures on-demand." ________________________________ From: M Wilson <astro_outwest@yahoo.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2012 7:18 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Wednesday's sunset Ditto that. Mine was ground bound, but it was a spectacular sunset. Here's my version: http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n534/brentjwatson/Sunset1.jpg Brent

Maybe Joe will get one of the Tree of Utah (timed, of course, for when someone "accidentally" knocks it over as Joe once opined in one of his columns). :) patrick On 13 Jul 2012, at 14:03, Scott Catron wrote:
