Hi all. I just added a couple of nice images of a Golden Eagle to my gallery. If you are interested in Utah's birds of prey you might want to check them out. They are quite nice. Here are the links: http://www.utahastronomy.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album18 <http://www.utahastronomy.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album18&id=Utah_A stronomy_Feeding_Golden> &id=Utah_Astronomy_Feeding_Golden and http://www.utahastronomy.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album18 <http://www.utahastronomy.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album18&id=Utah_A stronomy_Flying_Golden_Eagle> &id=Utah_Astronomy_Flying_Golden_Eagle I hope someone out there enjoys these images as much as I enjoy capturing them. Cheers, Tyler

Very nice! I did not know you had a bird page. Did you take the pictures locally? Perhaps I could get you to come get some pictures of the bats that live at my place. Several raptors live out at the Erda drop zone. Fun to watch. Patrick
PS: I wasn't very clear about how I got the Navy photos. Marty Raines e-mailed them to me at work. Now I need to email them to my home computer so I can get them out and put them on a CD, becuase this @*#(!{ iMac at work doesn't make CDs. Best wishes, Joe
Dear Everyone, An explanation so you don't think I'm going crazy and sending out info that makes no sense: I need to get one of Guy's special computer keys that make you think before you send email. That last note was intended for a high school friend, not the astronomy newsgroup. Sorry for blasting it out without making sure I was replying to the right message. We grew up on a base in the middle of the Pacific, Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, at the time under the auspices of the Navy. A friend named Marty Raines had a bunch of photos that Navy p.r. people took and distributed, showing life on the island. He made a CD for some of us but the CD wouldn't open. So Marty sent me the photos by email a few at a time. Another friend, a different Martin, also wasn't able to open his CD and asked me about the photos. I said I'd send him some and that's the conversation that was going on when I needed Guy's special computer key! -- Joe

I have thousands of additional bird images as well. I am always looking for new material. Bats are particularly tough targets, but I would love to try for some images. Do you have bats that have invaded some structure? On another topic.... Do you still want to arrange for a astrophoto processing gig for the Utah Astronomy group? Rich Tenney has expressed some interest in pulling something together for the UVAA group. Perhaps we could kill two birds with one stone? Winter is a tough time to get good weather for imaging, but it would be easy to do an indoor astro-photo processing session. What do you think? How about it Rich? Cheers, Tyler

Be that as it may, they are gone now but should be back in the spring at which time you'd be welcome to try for some pictures.
On another topic.... Do you still want to arrange for a astrophoto processing gig for the Utah Astronomy group? Well, I _thought_ it would be a good idea but when I tried asking in News if anyone was interested there was practically no response.
My original idea was to have the program at a SLAS meeting but Lowell tells me he's already arranged for speakers for all 2006 meetings. Oh well, I still think it was a good idea. Patrick
Fabulous shots! What were you shooting with? On Dec 14, 2005, at 5:50 PM, Tyler Allred wrote:

Thanks. That's really a nice shot. You know, back in Massachusetts there were numerous bald eagles and red-tails. But I never saw a golden until one flew over my house last summer. That's a big bird. Our parrot got one look at that bird and screamed for an hour. On Dec 14, 2005, at 10:49 PM, Tyler Allred wrote:
