Re: [Utah-astronomy] Homemade Telescopes? Filmmaker looking for props
Danielle, I'm CC'ing the Utah Astronomy mailing list for takers (I actually live about an hour south of SLC). Hopefully there are plenty that might be interested; I'll let them reply to all... What is the film, out of curiosity? Regards, /Rich --- On Mon, 8/31/09, Danielle Clemenza <danielleclemenza@yahoo.com> wrote:

To: Date: Monday, August 31, 2009, 1:21 PM Hi there, My name is Danielle, and I am a cinematic art director from Los Angeles. The reason I am writing is because I will be art directing a feature film in the Salt Lake City area, and we are currently searching for unique looking astronomical props-- homemade telescopes in particular. (any other sort of astronomyhomemade gear as well.)Does your society happen to have any of these that we may be able to rent from you for a fee? If not, would you happen to have any recommendations of somewhere in the area that might?Thank you so much for your time! I look forward to hearing from you soon.Best,Danielle Clemenza
I have a mirrorless blue coulter that is destined for the trash heap, if they want something they can kick around.... We have Allen's 8 inch ultra portable that he made, which is pretty neat looking, along with a not very un-usual looking 16 inch homemade dob, and large binoculars on a homemade mount. (I am afraid Allen would have to come with the 8 inch, as he has an emotional attachment to it :), but he sits quietly....) Jo Quoting Richard Tenney <retenney@yahoo.com>:

I also have a 10" Dobsonian skeleton (rocker & tube assembly) that would be available if they are interested. Dave Bennett On Aug 31, 2009, at 4:30 PM, Josephine Grahn wrote:

Rich, I happen to still have photos up on my Mac homepage of the scope...I was trying to find a local home for it as I'm in the middle of a redesign for my Cave mirror. http://homepage.mac.com/dlbennett/PhotoAlbum28.html Dave Bennett On Aug 31, 2009, at 8:43 PM, Dave Bennett wrote:

Better yet, she should just film the home observatory sequences at SPOC, or a member's real home-observatory. Would save a boatload of transportation costs.
