If they can fix the rover, they can spell-out messages in the sand and image them from orbit (Kilroy was here?) Just kidding! C. --- Patrick Wiggins <paw@trilobyte.net> wrote:

C. You wrote "they can spell-out messages (Kilroy was

I appreciate your need for communication from another world; however, you may have underestimated the technical difficulty involved in writing script in rockciferous sand using multiple impression points upon which Spirit motates. Have you considered even the static equations necessary for Spirit to balance on a single linear track with which to write such text, not to mention the classical diagram which typically accompanies this quote in late 20th century American culture? The aerodynamic dynamics of such a feat boggles even the simplest mind. A gaseous momentum of over .00023 ergs/hermat would erase such siliceous script, and render Spirit as poetic as a Galapagos turtle in breeding season. Granted, you haven't quoted a sentence using a "t", but how do you propose to complete as simple a task as dotting the "i"? Bob, you're correct, I completey ignored the technical hurdles involved. Such vision, such genius, such a grasp of the situation! I am humbled... ;) If mankind were meant to write in the sand, we'd have sticks instead of fingers! (LOL, good one!) C. --- Marilyn Smith <bob-marilyn@worldnet.att.net> wrote:
