Hello fellow gallery users, When one places a new image on the gallery there are five places in which to enter descriptive data. They are labeled "Title", "Summary", "Keywords", "Description" and way down at the bottom is a series of pull down menus for entering the date and time the image was taken. "Title" as one might expect, is what is displayed in bold face type immediately under each image. When one clicks on a particular album in the gallery each of the images are then displayed with the title still underneath each image and still in bold type but "Summary" is what is displayed in smaller, non-bold type under the title. Note that there is a limit to how much text "Summary" can accommodate before it cuts off. So it's best to keep the "summary" to, as the name implies, just a summary of the full caption. When one then clicks on a particular image a larger version of the image is displayed with the full "Description" shown above. There may be a limit to the amount of text that can be entered in the description but I have not seen any evidence of that yet. The date and time are displayed below the image (checking the various albums it looks like some either have not noticed the Date/Time feature or chose not to use it). Oh, as for "Keywords"? I don't know what that is. I'm guessing there's some way to search the entire gallery for particular images by searching for keywords but I don't know that for sure. Keep those images coming. patrick
That gallery page really works well. Good job Ken!!! In my first draft I put a lot of wording into both the "summary" and "description" fields and found that when one ran the slide show presentation (enlarged version), the pictures were almost obliterated due to the excessive wording. Thankfully the pages were easy to edit. My final preference was simply to have a brief summary with nothing in the description field. The only problem that I can see is when one chooses to have the slide show enlarged to fill the monitor screen, the bottom 10 percent of each picture is hidden under a scroll bar containing thumbnails of all the images found in a particular gallery. It would be nice if that scroll bar vanishes when the slide show is put on automatic and then reappear if one moves the mouse to the bottom of the screen. --- On Wed, 1/21/09, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> wrote: From: Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Suggestion for gallery users To: "utah astronomy listserve utah astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2009, 3:38 AM Hello fellow gallery users, When one places a new image on the gallery there are five places in which to enter descriptive data. OOPS. I just ran the slide show again and found that the scroll bar containing the thumbnails does disappear when one just leaves the mouse alone. It has either been corrected or I was too busy moving my mouse around when I first tried it. Now the only problem with running the slide show on full screen is that the description shows up superimposed on the images but the title info is missing. --- On Wed, 1/21/09, M Wilson <astro_outwest@yahoo.com> wrote: From: M Wilson <astro_outwest@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Suggestion for gallery users To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2009, 10:55 AM That gallery page really works well.
