I had a perfect view of the eclipse from my siter's house in St. George. As the eclipse proceeded, the amount of outside light reduced the same as it would through haise. When the ring of fire appeared, it started to get cooler outside, and my sister's porch light came on. The eclipse was a very inspiring experience. ----- Original Message ----- From: utah-astronomy-request@mailman.xmission.com To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Mon, 21 May 2012 02:20:38 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Utah-Astronomy Digest, Vol 111, Issue 101 Send Utah-Astronomy mailing list submissions to utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to utah-astronomy-request@mailman.xmission.com You can reach the person managing the list at utah-astronomy-owner@mailman.xmission.com When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of Utah-Astronomy digest..." First contact was observed through high clouds. The clouds came and went but we all got to see what was happening and I did manage to capture a couple of photos. http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=4986 ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Sun, 20 May 2012 21:21:58 -0700 (PDT) From: Brent Watson <brentjwatson@yahoo.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Update from down south Message-ID: <1337574118.15612.YahooMailNeo@web39406.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 We're back from Beryl Junction. ?Ahhhh - my own bed tonight! ?The flight down was a bit bumpy with continuous light?turbulence, but coming back you hardly tell we were doing 160 mph. We had perfect skies. ?It was really fun watching the changing characteristics of the shadows. ?Hardly anyone along the road. ?Maybe one car every half mile or mile. ?We had some really fun experiences. ?I'll post more details tomorrow along with some photos. ?There was one fellow from Alberta, Canada there and a couple of cars from California. ?Other than that - only the locals. ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Sun, 20 May 2012 23:24:39 -0600 From: Ryan Shaw <ryan.shaw@mac.com> To: "utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Contrails during eclipse Message-ID: <A562DF6F-971B-458F-AF42-CF6B24E9C798@mac.com> Content-Type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII *Just* missed getting the plane. About 200 people (many of whom I didn't even know) cycled through my yard looking through the telescopes. I had to fight them off to get photos every 15 minutes or so. I'll post some more detailed photos tomorrow.
