Music and Astronomy Festival in Senegal
So, I've been browsing Kickstarter a lot lately, and came across an interesting astronomy-related project in Senegal. With telescopes operated by members of a local astronomy club, live music on stage, and "video remixing" (not quite sure what that means) of images (if I understood the video correctly) projected through the on site telescopes, it sounds like it could really be an interesting night. I had to scratch my head a bit when the astronomer on the video praised the dark skies of the chosen site. I mean, I wonder how dark things can really get with a large video screen and concert stage near by...but I guess the planets will still be nice, and the moon if it is up. Anyway, as both a musician and astro buff, I've always thought it would be fun to integrate musical performance with astronomy. I also wonder if this kind of multi-media production might attract a whole new crowd to the night sky. I almost wish I could afford to go check it out and see how it comes off in the community there. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1937828839/asamaan-festival-of-music-and... ~Kelly
