Moon, Saturn, and ISS
I had my trusty 6" vintage Dynascope out last night in the driveway, showing my daughter's boyfriend the lovely crescent moon and edge-on rings of Saturn, when I happened to notice the ISS flying over. I managed to swing the scope up and get a second or two of focus on that very bright pass, able to make out the twin rectangular solar arrays in that brief moment @ 75x; pretty neat!
This past Tuesday evening when ISS flew pretty much straight overhead I observed it with 10x50 binoculars and was surprised to see that even at only 10 power ISS was obviously wider than tall. Impressive. patrick On 29 May 2009, at 15:02, Richard Tenney wrote:
