Re: [Utah-astronomy] Nuff disputin'
Reminds me of a magazine article I read as a kid. This would have been sometime in the late 50's early 60's. It was in a large-format magazine, perhaps Life or Look. There was a fellow in Germany who found his house right in the approach path to a new airport runway. After months of complaining about noise, he decided to take matters into his own hands. He built a dumpling launcher. I don't remember if it was a catapult, a giant slingshot or some kind of gun. But he'd cook up these giant dumplings the size of a basketball and shoot them at the airplanes. At the time of the article, he hadn't hit one. My memory may have embellished this story, but it made quite an impression at the time. Perhaps it's why I went into engineering. Any of the other old geezers on this list remember this story? Joe, I love it - please verify whether or not this is a true story!!
