Hi Has anyone on this list been to the RTMC (RTMC Astronomy Expo) in Big Bear Calif. I am thinking about going this year.Is it worth going to?Camping conditions?Any advice etc. etc. Thanks for any advice Mark SheltonToquerville
Mark, I've never been but many SLASer's have. Sadly, I've heard that Riverside has taken a downturn in recent years. It seems that it was at it's height about 20-25 years ago. Part of the problem is a parallel astronomy festival in Big Bear proper, and part of it is that telescope making is on the wane. Also the original organizers have largely passed away. I still hope to go one day when I retire and have some free time to travel. On Wed, Jan 28, 2015 at 6:13 PM, Mark Shelton via Utah-Astronomy < utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

For me it's been over 25 years as a participant. I passed by RMTC 3-4 years ago. We went in, had to pay a $20 entrance fee despite saying we were only going in for an hour or so. Much to my disappointment, in the area that used to be the main telescope field, there was tent after tent of vendors. I saw very few amateur made telescopes.
