Re: [Utah-astronomy] What's on for tomorrows meeting?
May I offer an observation as someone who feels like he is on the "outside" watching? If anyone thinks my observation is wrong or unwelcome, I'll take my lumps. I doubt that the people who complained about your manner of responding to Jo's original question were "attacking" you. I think they were just frustrated by your apparent arrogance, and your follow-up that they should learn how to ask questions the way you want them to be asked. They probably don't appreciate your self-appointed role as the designated grammar teacher. Wouldn't it have been simpler for you to just say, "I do (ha ha.)" And then follow-up with a real answer? I have to admit over the short time I've been a member of the club I have noticed that you, yourself have a tendency to censure people and make cutting comments when you appear to be tired of their conversations. I think your friends are still your friends. They just felt annoyed. No offense intended. :)
Okay enough, this email is out of line. Please stop these types of emails, thank you. Olhomorto@aol.com wrote:

These topics are very much in line. In my opinion, there has been too much arrogance in SLAS, and that arrogance has driven at least a few individuals out of astronomical socialization, and SLAS. There ARE a select few individuals who in my observation have the attitude that if you are not an expert or a long time member of the club that you are a nuisance. So what is the club for if not to educate the public about the wonders of astronomy. Sure there are advanced and introductory topics, and that the advanced topics may be tailored towards those experts or long time members. In my opinion, the original arrogance is completely out of line, and the comments of anyone pointing out a failure in a public forum, or requesting clarification or additional information is completely on topic. Especially when done politely and with the right attitude.
