Apparently all the sites had beacons but only some had arrows too. -------------------------- I think you are right Patrick, every beacon did not have an arrow. I also think that where arrows were laid, they still remain unless some reconstruction took place at the site. That much concrete doesn't just vanish. As to the Leppy Peak site north of Wendover, it is a USAF Communication site and the road to it is blocked by a substantial and locked iron gate. I hope your friend knows, or is, someone in authority who can grant you access to the facility to have a look around and, maybe, take some pictures even if there is no arrow there. While you are out that way, are you going to examine beacon site #51 on the hilltop just west of Wendover? It should only be a short hike from where you have to abandon your truck. Ed
Hi Ed, I've asked the guy to check on access to the AF site. Not sure about the site west of Wendover. It's so remote out there I was able to fly quite low and despite a lack of vegetation I could not see any sign of an arrow or beacon tower. But it's close enough to Wendover that we may head out that way. I see there's another site just south of Wendover so yet another spot to check if we can get access. patrick On 18 Sep 2013, at 15:57, Ed wrote:
