Twice this week I have seen bright meteors in the early morning sky, with a radiant near Perseus. This morning a very bright one was seen just below Venus, as it was only a few degrees above the skyline. Hoping this bodes well for this year's shower peak. The moon will compromise the shower somewhat, so only the brighter shower members will be easily seen, but if the two I've seen this week are any indication, we just might get a great show.
I saw another very bright Perseid this morning just before Venus rose, in almost exactly the same place as last week's. And not a minute later, a sporadic just a few degrees to the left of the Perseid, both low on the eastern horizon. Even with a bright, fat waning gibbous moon, this shower is worth watching. I believe the peak is supposed to happen tomorrow night, early Wednesday morning. On Thu, Aug 7, 2014 at 5:41 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:
