You beat me to the punch on that one Joe. I got the same email and immediately wondered if maybe no one on Astronomy's staff is old enough to remember the "Great" Comet of 1973. I've been mentioning ISON in my public talks this year but mainly to emphasize that while it's possible ISON *could* be a very nice comet it could also be a very big dud.
