Thanks Patrick! Actually, that foreground glow is St. Ansgar, Iowa. Shhhh... don't tell anyone. I like your version better (sunset glow)! Bruce Nice. I really like the way you composed the shot with the trees and sunset glow in the foreground. patrick Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science. - Edwin Powell Hubble
Looks good. Tyler has inspired me to really get going into astrophotography. Camping and astro this winter. FUN. Dear UAS It looks like the next several mornings we may get some chances for a few minutes for good, perhaps spactacular viewing of ISON 2013. Clear sky is predicted and the comet should show in the eastern sky before sunrise. I am wondering since it is low in the sky where you think a good place near the valley to set up and try to get a photo. I am thinking a summit with a view of the eastern sky with the horizon below my feet. Any thoughts say within a 45 minute drive. Maybe the old Little Mountain star party site (top of Emigration Canyon)? List member Rob Ratkowski just emailed me a shot he took of ISON this morning from Maui. Nice that he caught it, pretty little tail but it's sure no comet of the century. But maybe it will be tomorrow? :) patrick
I can't see it from work now, it's below the mountains until well after the sky starts brightening. I'm done with it until after perihelion- when it may be done with us if it gets cooked. On Sun, Nov 24, 2013 at 12:24 PM, Wiggins Patrick <paw@getbeehive.net>wrote:

ISON is so low to the horizon at twilight from our location (note that all the recent photos have been near the equator) that direct observations are going to be very difficult until probably around December 1st. It doesn't break 0° until 6:30 tomorrow morning, well after nautical twilight. It is only 8° high (less than a fist at arm's length) at sunrise. Unless you know exactly where to look and have some good optics, it's going to be tough. Jared On Sun, Nov 24, 2013 at 10:56 AM, <gazebo4sale@comcast.net> wrote:

ISON should show up in the SOHO LASCO C3 images sometime in the next day or two. That should be fun to look at. I think it will also be in the C2 images for at least 24 hours before and after perihelion.
