Bright New Comet in the Morning Sky http://www.skyandtelescope.com/resources/proamcollab/astroalert/106735518.ht... patrick
AccuWeather (I found a link thanks to Jay Eads's excellent blog) says Faust will have great weather for astronomy Saturday night. I find it hard to believe that there won't be dew or frost, but the hourly forecast doesn't show the temperature reaching the dew point. So I think I may go to Pit'N'Pole Saturday night. Anyone want to join me? Or does anyone know of a better site for either tonight or Saturday night? Thanks, Joe
Joe, I was out there last night and the skies were wonderful, dew was low until around 1:30a.m. when it started to go up. At 2:00a.m. the temperature dropped below freezing and the dew started freezing. I was with a good friend who was imaging and with his dew heaters he was fine. We quit at 3:00a.m It was a great night but there is dew out there. I set up earlier in the week up at 5 Mile Pass with no one around (it was during the work week) and that got me up and out of the gunk. Temperature was higher and I didn't face any humidity. Also was out at the Grantsville Reservoir this week and the humidity was only in the low 50% because it is elevated . . . but you face that eastern light dome of Tooele. Southern view is great as is the view at zenith at Grantsville. Have you thought about the Gravel Pit? Another area and it may cost, is up American Fork Canyon Hwy 144 which goes up to Tibble Fork Reservoir which has a rather large parking lot. I've gone up there during a week night and had only a couple of cars come by and the views at zenith are very good as your up around 6400 feet. I also have a couple of sites up Big Cottonwood Canyon on the other side of Solider's Pass. Not sure if that helps, but right now higher is better. Thanks, Jay. I don't know what to do. I'll probably go somewhere Saturday. -- Joe --- On Fri, 11/5/10, Jay Eads <jayleads@gmail.com> wrote:

Both the Clear Sky Clock and NWS are calling for mostly cloudy for tomorrow. Grumble... But if it is clear Dave Bernson and company will have SPOC's Grim scope open and I'll have the refractor open. Come on out for fun observing, camaraderie, a warm room and no doubt, Advance Training after. Tomorrow night is the last night SPOC will be open this season. Headed over to SPOC now.
