while viewing the eclipse at Flat Iron Mesa park in sandy, I was amazed to see how many people were walking around oblivious to the partial eclipse. We did offer the welding glasses for people to look through at the partial eclipse, some people didn't even bother to look. I was astonished. -Bruce Glad ___________________________________________________________________ Join the Space Program: Get FREE E-mail at http://www.space.com.

You should send this to S&T. It's hard for me to imagine a soul with so little curiosity. C. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com
I experienced the same thing in West Jordan. I called 2 neighbors who had school aged children and invited them over to see the eclipse thru my Questar. between them they ahd 7 children - NO one came - adult or kids!!! Even when I told them it would be another 10 years. I was also very surprised. i susopect people today have many other issues and thoughts on their minds other than astronomy - how sad. This reminds me of a suitable quote: "I have walked with people whose eyes are full of light, but who see nothing in wood, sea or sky, nothing in the city streets, nothing in books. What a witless masquerade is this seeing! "It were better far to sail forever in the night of blindness, with sense and feeling and mind, than to be thus content with the mere act of seeing. "They have the sunset, the morning skies, the purple of distant hills - yet their souls voyage through this enchanted world with nothing but a barren stare." -HELEN KELLER --- Jim Stitley <sitf2000@yahoo.com> wrote:
