Howdy folks, SLAS members on the list will have heard of this already but knowing there are a few non-SLASers here I thought I'd mention it here since those who are not members are also welcome to participate in the socialization, food (and work...). I hope to see a bunch of y'all out there Saturday, patrick SPOC Cleanup Saturday An all-day SPOC cleanup has been called for this coming Saturday, 3 March. There's lots to be done so we'd like to get as much help as possible. Morning people can arrive as early as 8:00 am with others showing up as they can. The club will supply drinks and snacks throughout the day and there will be a break for lunch. Suggested items to bring include ladders, hand tools, hedge trimmers, cleaning supplies, brooms, dust pans, vacuums, rakes and shovels. And don't forget gloves. Unlike most SPOC events this will be held even if the weather is not the best as there are lots of things to do inside as well as out. Those planning on attending are asked to let Rodger Fry know. He can be reached at rcfry@comcast.net.
A dozen people in the Refractor House dome during a rain or snowstorm is reason enough to show-up. The stories alone will be worth it. Virg's for lunch? Is Virg's in Erda still there? ("Erda = old German for "earth", how apropos). BTW, there is a Virg's in WVC. Great food at unbeatable prices. I suggest SLAS start holding their board meetings at the West Valley Virg's, instead of Denny's. It's not Hooters, but beggars can't be choosers. Less gas expense for Stansbury commuters. ;-) On Tue, Feb 28, 2012 at 12:48 PM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:

Hi, Is Virg's a good place to eat. I have never been there and do not know a thing about it. Mark Shelton Indian Hill Middle School Tech Ed. It's a fish and chip place. On good days, it's quite good. On bad days, it's pretty greasy. They used to be one of the few places you could still get english style chips, but that went away a few years ago… If I can find a babysitter, I'll be out on Saturday. Well it's not the sort of place to go for healthy food... But prices are not bad and it is close to SPOC. Basically it's a typical country, family owned eatery. But given my druthers I'd go for Kravers in Stansbury Park. It is even closer and they actively support SPOC star parties. patrick On Feb 29, 2012, at 15:17, Mark Shelton <astroshelton@yahoo.com> wrote:

If you want to try out a Virg's menu, there's two outlets in the Salt Lake Valley. One is in the Family Shopping complex just off I-215 at Redwood Road. It can be seen from I-215 and is next to the Old Spaghetti Factory and 24-Hour Fitness in the shopping center. The other is in a former Winger's Diner at 3252 W 3500 South in West Valley City.
