Neil deGrasse Tyson Tanner Lecture
An important 5-minute segment of Dr. Tyson's Tanner lecture has been posted on YouTube: Neil deGrasse Tyson Reads from the Book of Carl (Sagan) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPFsEKGl1GM
Ed, thanks for posting that. It's beautiful. Next time Tyson comes to town for one of these lectures, I hope the folks at the U will understand that he needs the Special Events Center to handle the demand for tickets. A zillion years ago Hansen Planetarium hosted Stephen Hawking in SLC, twice. The first time he came we had as many people waiting _outside_ Abravanel Hall to see him as we had inside. Lesson learned. The second time HP hosted him we booked the U's Special Events Center and had an audience of ~9,000 people. I'm mightily heartened that the demand for popular lectures on space science is so high in our community. -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces+sjarvis=slco.org@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces+sjarvis=slco.org@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Ed Sent: Friday, March 28, 2014 12:22 PM To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Neil deGrasse Tyson Tanner Lecture An important 5-minute segment of Dr. Tyson's Tanner lecture has been posted on YouTube: Neil deGrasse Tyson Reads from the Book of Carl (Sagan) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPFsEKGl1GM _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Send messages to the list to Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com The Utah-Astronomy mailing list is not affiliated with any astronomy club.
