Re: [Utah-astronomy] Moon position question
Ed, Stellarium is a quick learing curve. Read (or at least skim) the manual so you can breeze through the software. There is a link to the manual on the Stellarium site. The manual is Wiki based but you can also download a PDF off the Wiki page. The program has a LOT of tweaks like adjusting the amount if light pollution shown, the magnitude star level, etc. so you can have a realistic view. I can even control my LX200GPS using Stellarium! It is an amazing program and is amazingly FREE! Have fun! Bruce
Bruce, Thank you for the tips, I'm glad I ask the question. I got a lot of help from you and Joel. Ed Stimpson ------------------------------- Quoting Bruce Hugo via Utah-Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com>:

Ed, Another great program (free) is RTGUI. It will generate ephemeris listings for any coordinates and time you specify. You can generate the table for any time interval you care to choose....five-minute intervals, 10-minute intervals, you name it. Its pointing accuracy is as good as any planetarium program I have. I have most of them, including Stellarium. You can write scripts with this program to automate your scope. Very easy to do, especially in Windows XP. I have, yet, to find a goto scope it won't operate. The program is very easy to use and appears DOS-like in its configuration, but don't let that fool you. It is a very powerful and useful program and very easy to navigate. Dave Sent from my iPad
