So did anyone actually make it out to see the launch and return? I was reading on slashdot, yesterday, about the pilots experiences, and that her reported almost loosing control during decent. I also heard that NASA is talking about coughing up some cash to the winner of the X-Prize. So, is SpaceShipOne the clear leader? Or does you guys have other hunches as to who might win the Civilian Space Race (CSR for Short, and here in, /Copyrighted :-)) /Cheers, James.

None that I've heard of. I asked in a recent issue of News if anyone wanted to carpool down to the launch but no one replied.
So, is SpaceShipOne the clear leader? It would *appear* so, however the problems experienced in Monday's flight and the fact that it barely managed to make the 100 km height with only one person (they have to have 3 people on board to claim the prize) leaves room for other contenders.
And there are many other contenders (some more serious than others). Info on them here: http://www.xprize.org Patrick
