Got this 9 panel mosaic of most of M-33 this morning between asteroid searches: http://gallery.utahastronomy.com/v/patrickw/M33.JPG.html pw
That's sensational, Patrick. How do you stitch 'em together seamlessly with Potoshop Elements? That's what I use and I defeinitely get ugly seams. Hi Joe, To be honest I'm not sure why some work and some don't. You should have seen the mosaic I tried to put together of the Horsehead. So many ugly seams it reminded me of Frankenstein. :) For a while I thought it might have had to do with placement in the sky (ie. the higher in the sky the better) but this morning's M-33 was made when the target was only about half way up the sky. One thing that does seem to help is to assemble the pieces at about 150%. If the alignment is good at 150 it looks even better at 100%. patrick
Hi all and thanks for the help. I solved my mosaic problem when I found Maxim DL has a program that will put together images and blend them. Through some computational magic, it compensated for the comet's motion during the 23 minutes of exposures. This color view is far better than the B&W one I first tried. Please follow the link to the Utah Astronomy gallery, click on my album and check out the last photo. Best wishes, Joe --------------------------------- Be a better sports nut! Hi Joe, I'm looking at your picture at http://gallery.utahastronomy.com/v/ Joeb/Holmes.jpg.html with a caption reading it was shot last Mon/ Tues. Is that the one you are referring to? What is the focal length of the system you are using and what camera? Very nice. I'd never know it was a mosaic if you didn't say so. Cheers, patrick On 18 Nov 2007, at 00:37, Joe Bauman wrote:
