A 20" would give me a big performance boost over my 15". My friend Jim sold his 20" Starmaster and bought a 25" f/5. Everybody down here loved the 20" and was sorry to see it go. Most of the time we were only on the second step unless near the zenith. That Star Tracker is also nice too. Debbie

What Diameter are you considering?
For a 24" scope, I would say F4.5 for the sake of saving the foot higher up on the ladder I would need to go to look through the eyepiece. For any size under 16" I do not think that small a difference would matter much in the height, and certainly not much for the view.

I was wondering if people would rather have an f/4.5 or an f/5 dobsonian reflector. I've looked through both and can't see any major difference. The f/5 scope would be easier to collimate but the f/4.5 would be easier on my knees. What do you guys/gals think?
