Re: [Utah-astronomy] Slippery slope (Was: Kicking and screaming)
That's correct. The camera flash LED's are the main flashlight. The screen itself does the rest of the fancy stuff. Wayne A. Sumner Math/Physics/Astronomy/Engineering Boy's Tennis Coach Northridge High School Davis School District (801) 402-8610

Yes, it shines a perfect red light from the screen for reading star charts! The same app can also make the flash LED work as a flashlight as well as do all kinds of cool things, for example, a flashing red light
while walking in the dark or a flashing red and blue highway patrol light to scare other drivers on the road! I've only had my smartphone for 3 weeks and I'm totally hooked.
Hi Wayne, so, the red light comes from the screen itself, and not the flash LED's? On the Sensation, there are two LEDs that are used for the white-light flashlight and they do double duty as the camera flash. The flashlight can be set to three different brightness levels, as well as regular flashing, or flashing S.O.S. in Morse. For the LED's to shine red, they would have to be bi-color diodes. Programming won't do it alone. _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php
