Re: [Utah-astronomy] New Mount or New Telescope?
My 8" newt is on a skyview pro by Orion...probably right at the edge for that mount, but there are many out there that can handle that class of scope. Boils down to what features/how much you are willing to spend, I think. Dan -- Sent from my Incredible. To: "Utah Astronomy" <Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Ok, I've had my 8" dobsonian for a few years now. I like the scope and it functions just fine for me. But, I want an equatorial mount. I know there are platforms you can put under the dobsonian to give it tracking capabilities, but that's not what I want. So, is there a type of mount out there that I can attach my dobsonian tube to, or should I get a new telescope? ++++++++++++++++++ Troy Davidson www.istroyworking.com _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com
I agree with Daniel. Get a new mount. It will last you through several telescopes. Equatorial platforms are for HUGE Dobs. Not 8" scopes. Unless you are like, what, 80 years old? On 8/22/10, Daniel Holmes <danielh@holmesonics.com> wrote:
