Re: RE: [Utah-astronomy] Observing this week-end: Wolf Creek Friday
Anybody going to stay over Sunday night? I need to get away from these smoky skies. Debbie

I think several of us are going to the gravel pit Friday night and Wolf Creek Saturday night.

I'm fighting a (possible) sinus infection that's keeping me in pretty constant pain lately (scheduled for a CAT scan Friday morning), so I'm not likely to show this weekend, but I got a call from Lou Griffin tonight and he's planning on Wolf Creek Friday night. He said he was up there Monday and the observing field is now snow-free. Said the road up was wet in spots, but doable. I'm guessing it's still super cold up there nights however.
For any interested in joining him... I just added his name to the list, so hopefully he'll see any responses.

At the meeting last night, a few people were planning on heading up to the gravel quarry, weather and clouds permitting. There was discussion of going to Wolf Creek, if possible, the weekend of the eighth. Someone said that snow was down to about 8 inches high last weekend, on the worst area of the road, and they were hoping it would be open by next weekend. If anyone is traveling in that area, it would be nice to hear a progress report :). Jo

What plans for dark sky observing does anyone have this Friday or Saturday nights?
I have not heard of any out of town trips but SPOC will be open Saturday night and there's talk of opening it late Sunday (~23:00) for the Deep Impact crunch.

Looks like I may be going up to Wolf Creek Saturday night after all; turns out the "sinus infection" is probably a mis-diagonosis of possible nocturnal jaw-clenching / teeth grinding (so the doc thinks). I suspect some extra-galactic photons are just the medicine I need for stress relief... ;o) As for Sunday, I'm too old to stay up late two nights in a row. -Rich the geezer --- astrodeb@charter.net wrote:
