Several years ago I was given a military surplus tripod. Being military the thing is built like a tank, is VERY heavy and equally sturdy. The 30cm top rotates via internal gearing. The bottom of each leg rest on a heavy metal disk about 20cm in diameter. The center shaft, which appears to be solid, is about 90mm in diameter. When set up ("deployed" might be a better term for this beast) it stands about waist high. I've never been able to find a use for it so I've decided to just give it away. Any interest? patrick
If no other takers, save it for me. I'll put a parallelogram on it. On Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 2:14 AM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:

Patrick, I might be interested in it... or at least be willing to take it off your hands to see if it would make a good tripod for my G-11. Perhaps, when you wake up this afternoon, you could send me a direct email to discuss it. Wooooops! I see that Chuck had already expressed an interest. Have at it Chuck. :) Tyler _____________________________________________ -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Patrick Wiggins Sent: Wednesday, July 01, 2009 2:15 AM To: utah astronomy listserve utah astronomy Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Free to good home Several years ago I was given a military surplus tripod. While you guys decide who gets it I thought I'd mention that the tripod would probably not make a very good portable setup. "Transportable" perhaps but not portable. I like tho think I'm in pretty good shape for a guy my age but this thing is so heavy I can just barely manage to move it about. Let me know who "wins". Or maybe I'll just say, first one to show up at my place gets it. :) Cheers, patrick On 01 Jul 2009, at 11:16, Chuck Hards wrote:
