Patrick, The system wouldn't let me post a reply to this thread. Would you pleae place this. Support for this star party was discussed at our last general SLAS meeting. I believe the sponsor is expecting a large crowd. Be believe it would take at least 10 telescopes to properly support this. There was no support for this. We encourage our members to encourage people to come to our regularly scheduled star parties. This gentleman has approached all of the Board and several other members in hopes of finding someone. I think it's great that you are willing but if his predictions are right you will be overwhelmed with 2 scopes. SLAS as an organization has declined this event. Siegfried
I did a boy scout star party one time, all they where interested in was the merit badge. I doubt very many of them ever looked through a telescope again.
They had a list of objects to check off, it was not enjoyable. It did not seem in the spirit of accomplishment to gain the merit badge. Patrick,

Of all the people we need and value, Siegfried is high on the list. We should make sure that he can post freely. Ummm, Siegfried's message saying he can't post posted to the list just fine. In fairness to Sieg, he's had his setting on the list set such that he does not receive posts directly. Instead he reads them on the list's web page and then responds through the web page. But for some reason not all posts posted that way make it through to the list. He could solve the problem by changing back to receiving post directly (hint, hint) but that's his call. patrick :) On 05 Sep 2009, at 11:37, Joe Bauman wrote:

I don't know what the difference is but on the list there is a page to click to respond. Sometimes, like this, it will open an email response but most often it seems it will not. So I don't know what's going on. I just wanted to let the two well-meaning people know that the event had been reviewed and we declined because we couldn't get enough suuport. I'm all for emembers getting involved in activities outside SLAS I just hope they know what they're getting in to. Siegfried On 2009-09-05 20:47, Patrick Wiggins wrote:

I had intended this to be part of the other BSA string but couln't get an email window there. It is a hit and miss thing. Siegfried On 2009-09-05 20:47, Patrick Wiggins wrote:
